Round 3 - World RX of Sweden

Höljes Motorstadion in Sweden is one of the world’s most iconic rallycross tracks, located deep in the Värmland forest not far from the Norwegian border. The circuit opened in February, 1976, with rallycross legend Per Eklund winning the very first event held there in front of 3,500 spectators.

In 1991, Höljes joined the FIA European Rallycross Championship calendar, becoming a permanent round on the schedule eight years later. It has been a popular World Championship fixture ever since the series’ inception in 2014. Known as the ‘Magic Weekend’, the event regularly attracts in the region of 50,000 fans.

From the grid, there is a short run to Turn One – a fast right-hander over a crest – before the cars immediately jink left into Turn Two, which marks the entry to the Joker Lap. Staying on the standard line, another crest precedes a tight and slippery right-hander that leads into the famous, banked ‘Velodrome’ section.

Drivers then speed half-sideways down the gravelly hill, before flicking their cars to the right at the bottom and leaping over the jump that feeds into the last corner – an open, asphalt-coated left-hander that twists round to the finish line.
