Ice race in Canada to open 2025 FIA World RX season

The FIA World Rallycross Championship will race on ice for the first time during the 2025 season opener in Canada, with an all-new ice circuit to be prepared by Volvo Construction Equipment at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières circuit.

"We are incredibly excited to be returning to Canada for the first time since 2019 for an event that will look like nothing we have ever seen on the calendar before,” said Rallycross Promoter Managing Director Arne Dirks.

“We are of course familiar with Trois-Rivières, but seeing it on snow is going to add an all-new incredibly spectacular element to our calendar. We cannot think of a better way to kick off the 2025 season.”

The ice circuit will be located between Montreal and Quebec City, with attending fans being kept warm in heated glass-enclosed grandstands, as temperatures outside expected to be well below freezing.

The provisional date for the event is set for 24–25 January.

The full 2025 FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar will be announced in the coming weeks.
