Niclas Grönholm claims FIA World RX bronze in CE Dealer Team’s inaugural season
Construction Equipment Dealer Team finished its groundbreaking inaugural season in the all-electric FIA World Rallycross Championship on the podium, as Niclas Grönholm claimed third in the drivers’ championship during the season finale at Nürburgring in Germany.
Niclas Grönholm crossed the line as third in the final, but later got promoted to second as a competitor was disqualified. This meant that the Finish driver secured enough points for third in the FIA World Rallycross Championship for drivers in the first-ever season of CE Dealer Team.
”First, I want to thank my team-mate for letting me take her place in the final to fight for a podium in the championship. To claim third in the championship with this team feels amazing, and I am happy for everyone in the team as well as our partners who have worked so hard for this,” said Niclas Grönholm.
”It has been a promising, but also challenging season with the new all-electric cars. Now we have a lot of data and experience to work with and to improve both the driving and the cars to fight even higher up in the championship next season.”
Klara Andersson put in one of her most competitive performances of the year at the season finale in Germany, securing her first-ever heat win after a strong move in Saturday's last heat.
The 22-year-old went on to claim a spot in the final, before withdrawing to hand over the place to her team-mate for the top three championship fight. Andersson ended her encouraging first season in the World RX as seventh in the championship, the best-ever placed female driver in world rallycross.
”I am really happy for my team-mate Niclas on securing third in the championship, he has been strong all season and deserve this. It was of course heart breaking, but understandable, for the team to withdraw me from the final to give my team-mate the chance to fight for third in the championship. For me, this was my strongest weekend of the season. Our pace developed quickly, and I got my first-ever World RX heat win and almost won the progression race as well. Overall, I am really satisfied with my performance this weekend,” said Klara Andersson.
CE Dealer Team ends its inaugural season in the new sustainable all-electric FIA World RX as third in the team championship, securing one win and another four podiums.
”To finish our first historic season with a medal in the championship for Niclas feels rewarding. And this is thanks to a solid effort from everyone in the team, who along with our partners have worked hard all season. It was a tough call to withdraw Klara from the final after her strong performances this weekend, but she showed great team spirit to let Niclas fight for a podium in the championship,” said Jussi Pinomäki, Team Manager of CE Dealer Team.
”We look back on a promising first season for the team at the top level of world rallycross, with strong results from both drivers. Now the work starts to come back even stronger next year, to continue our groundbreaking journey and challenge the very best in the world.”
